This past year has taught me just how vital face to face interactions are to me.
All through 2020, most of the courses I taught and the coaching sessions I hosted were virtual. Whether these sessions were conducted over the phone, on Zoom, Teams, Stream Yard, or Youtube, I'm thankful for the technology that made it possible.
However, I genuinely miss this one element of the pre-Covid 2020's — face to face communication.
Call me old-fashioned, but there is a certain level of honesty and authenticity that face to face interactions uniquely communicate. Looking someone in the eye and honestly (and kindly) speaking into their life is an incredible catalyst for growth.
We need to have good face to face communication with ourselves too. To grow, we need an honest look in the mirror with kind, loving, and truthful words offered back to ourselves.
John Maxwell describes how important this is in the "Law of the Mirror."
Just as positive face to face communication is key to building strong interpersonal relationships, positive face to face communication with yourself is ESSENTIAL to building healthy self-esteem.
AND self-esteem is essential to growing into your full potential.
As Maxwell says, "You must see value in yourself to add value to yourself."
When you look into the mirror, what kinds of things do you say to yourself?
Are you happy with what you see?
Do you like who you are?
To what extent do you feel grateful for who you’ve become and where you are?
Or do you feel more of a deep sense of disappointment? Maybe you’re not happy with who you’ve become or the progress (or lack thereof) that you’ve made to this point in your life.
Do you feel regret and long for a do-over in some area of your life?
Just like turning your camera off in a zoom call, it's easy to skip an honest conversation in the mirror about how you're doing. Sometimes it's more comfortable to keep your head down, press on, and neglect caring for (and growing) yourself.
Don't fall into this trap. You are worth far too much to allow that to happen.
I want to help you grow in your level of self-worth and put a network of like-minded people around you to support you and encourage you in that journey.
I'll talk about how in my upcoming 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth webinar. We’ll discuss how the law of the mirror plays into your growth.
There, I'll show you how to begin stepping into your potential while surrounding yourself with a group of leaders who will keep you accountable to continue growing.
Will you join me on February 2nd and have a face to face interaction? We'll talk about how to set yourself up to grow through having a healthy self-esteem.
We need positive and honest face to face interactions to grow — both with ourselves and with others.
February 2nd can be the start of an honest conversation with yourself that is long overdue.
