Don't let bad listening ruin good relationships

Hello Paul-

Can you think of any relationships you’ve had that may have been ruined by a lack of clear communication? Perhaps a misunderstanding caused by one party not effectively listening to the other party?

What does it feel like to not be heard or understood? Those feelings can break or significantly hurt a relationship.

And relationships are paramount to life.

George Valiant (of the Harvard Men’s Study) writes, “There are 80 years of evidence that our relationships with people matter, and they matter more than anything else in the world.”

Who wouldn’t want to improve this vital part of their life?

It’s safe to say that effective listening is a skill that’s advantageous to have in your toolbelt!

I’m writing to let you know that soon I’ll be kicking off a webinar that I’ve created called “How to Become an Effective Listener,” designed to help people learn about the importance of effective and mindful communication.

Being an effective listener means listening to connect with and learn from others instead of just listening to respond.

Being more mindful when having conversations with others will help build rapport and create stronger bonds with friends, colleagues, and loved ones.

What’s more, we’re told of the importance of listening in the Bible: “...everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.” (James 1:19)

During my upcoming webinar, I’ll be discussing what effective listening is and why it’s crucial. I’ll also be providing insight, strategies, and tips to help participants move from being okay listeners to FANTASTIC listeners.

I’d love for you to join me for my webinar I’ll be hosting on Wednesday, August 18, from 12-1 PM called “How to Become an Effective Listener."
