Don't be passionate

Have you ever received a piece of advice that you weren’t quite sure how to take?

How about this…

Don’t be passionate.

Sounds crazy, right?

Why? Because culture has long taught us that passion is a driving force. It is a trait to cultivate if you want to have sustained success. Passionate people are who we’re taught to follow through TED talks, conferences, and motivational speakers.

But what if they’re all wrong?

What if passion is the force that’s keeping you from progressing?

In chapter 4 of Ryan Holiday’s book, Ego Is The Enemy, Ryan claims that “your passion may be the very thing holding you back from power or influence or accomplishment.”

We had a great discussion around the topic of passion on this week’s Livestream. If you missed it, you can rewatch it in the video below.

Be encouraged today that even though your passion may fade, your purpose will hold you firm.
