Hello friend,
How is your soul doing? Have you stopped to consider how the most sacred part of you is faring through all of the challenges Covid 19 has created?
Soul health is essential to overall health and wellbeing.
We discussed certain aspects of soul health in a recent One Step Forward livestream.
Here’s a snippet of our conversation.
Part of what I love about our One Step Forward livestream is the unpredictability of where the conversation will go.
When you gather a handful of diverse and dynamic leaders in the same room (or group chat ) to talk about their experiences and perspectives around a collective topic, it’s often the unplanned and candid dialogue that becomes the most significant.
In the above video clip, Andy Kerr (Chaplain and Entrepreneur), Matt Pribonic (Fitness Entrepreneur), Dr. Doug Moorehead (Psychologist), Paul Macosko (John Maxwell Team member and moderator) and I were discussing ways to care for your soul in the midst of social distancing. Our conversation went off script — and I’m glad it did.
In order to be healthy, we need to create real, sustained space for our souls to speak.
Just as our lungs require air, so our souls need margin to properly function.
However, it’s easy to saturate our calendars with appointments, commitments, time-consumers, and even time-wasters. Some of these are not all bad — and some are not at all necessary either.
It’s often not until we step back and breathe — that we realize the depth of our soul-suffocation.
Today, I hope you are taking the opportunity before you to allow your soul to breathe — and as life returns to a new normal — I hope that you work to do two things:
1 - Build margin into your schedule
2 - Work to eliminate all unnecessary hurry
This is what I’m learning through quarantine.
Hope this helps.
