What carries you through in a season of failure? How can you fail and yet thrive?
A bit part of the answer to both of these questions lies in the understanding of your own personal "why."
What is your "why"? Think of it as the purpose behind what you choose to do, the ultimate goal you are aiming at, or the dream you are trying to achieve. Your "why" is the compelling force that gets you out of bed in the morning.
Understanding your "why" will enable you to handle setbacks in a fundamentally different way. Instead of seeing them as moments of failure or negative experiences to be avoided, you can use them as vital steps of learning in your journey forward.
History reminds us that Edison failed 10,000 times in his attempt to invent the lightbulb. Yet, his enthusiasm never was lost. When asked about his failed pursuits, Edison stated, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
And you know what, Edison's persistence ultimately paid off as he kept his "why" in plain sight.
Don't let failure discourage you; instead, let it spur you on in pursuit of your goals and dreams.
Let failure energize you. Because with the proper perspective, each failure will become a step forward when fueled by your own personal "why."
